Basketweaving Workshop at Black Bird Refuge, Valdez, NM
July 11 - 13, 2025
Join me in the beautiful mountains of northern New Mexico for three days of weaving at Black Bird Refuge, an off-grid retreat space located 30 minutes north of Taos.
Accommodation is camping, and we will be cooking together in an outdoor kitchen. We will be weaving two distinct styles of baskets: a rib or frame basket (common example is an egg basket) and a stake and strand basket, using wild vine material that I have harvested and prepared. In addition, we will be going on hikes to harvest wild willow at a neighboring ranch to incorporate into our baskets.
A complete list of what to bring will be sent prior to the workshop. If flying, transportation from Santa Fe can be arranged.
