Break It Down

performance documentation

During a residency in the small town of Skagaströnd, Iceland, I became enamored of the town dump, which consisted almost entirely of old nets and other fishing-related debris. Despite their aesthetic delights, the nets caused me to reflect on the pervasive presence of plastic waste. What constitutes a town dump is vastly different in different parts of the world, but it invariably includes plastic, whose production and discard create ongoing pollution problems. The problem breaks down indefinitely; the material never truly will.
